What's new

Notable changes and additions to SCAD Maps, newest first.

This page lists the notable changes to SCAD Maps, newest first. It covers what people can see and use, not every fix. Your instance receives updates from its operator, so a feature listed here may reach you a little later. When a new version is ready, the app shows a Reload button; it never reloads behind your back. To see the build you are running, ask an administrator or open the instance's version page.

Late September#

  • Building annotations in 3D. Administrators can give individual buildings in the 3D layer a colour, a name, an information text and attached files. Everyone can read them; hovering an annotated building shows a small card. See 3D buildings and models.
  • 3D models sit beneath buildings. Placed drawing models are now drawn behind the building layer, so nearby buildings hide them correctly.
  • My history. A personal timeline in the sidebar shows what you changed and the tasks that were newly assigned to you, newest first, with back-to-back steps on one item merged into one row.
  • One sign-in form. People who use a company login and people with a local account now use the same form. See Single sign-on.
  • Security hardening. Several sign-in, session and upload checks were tightened after an internal security review. See Security and privacy.
  • More reliable offline maps. A tile that cannot be loaded is replaced by a blank one instead of a broken image.

Mid September#

  • Field Desk layout. A new workspace with a full-height sidebar, a top bar, map controls at the right edge, and a command palette on Ctrl+K or Cmd+K. Every panel opens beside the control that opened it. It is a per-device choice, and the classic layout stays available. See The interface and Keyboard shortcuts.
  • Quick lists. Tasks, Incidents and Notes in the sidebar open a light list with search and filters. Open the full view only when you need it.
  • Map view undo and redo. Step back through camera positions and layer changes.
  • Hover quick look. Hover a note, task or area on a computer to see a short card. Note types were removed to keep notes simple.
  • Incident log. A one-click page with quick entry first, a denser log, searchable dropdowns, an editable time of occurrence, and a Cockpit mode for the control room. See Incidents.
  • Dropbox panoramas. Show 360-degree photos from a Dropbox folder on the map without copying the images. See Dropbox panoramas.
  • Own base map. An optional vector base map with its own labels and symbols, so nothing about the map depends on a third-party service.
  • Better search results. Results carry a badge for their kind and fold into a “+N more” row.
  • Notification routing. Alerts open the item they are about, and the setup screen explains why alerts may be unavailable.
  • Guest QR fixes. Guests on their own devices now receive exactly the layers the QR code grants.

Early September#

  • Venue map archives. Administrators can upload a .scadmap archive to publish a plan. See Venue maps.
  • Duplicate tasks and incidents. Copy an existing item, with its details and attachments, as a starting point for a new one. See Tasks.
  • Area colours. Areas can have their own colour, and tapping a task inside an area still opens the task first.
  • Grouping on the map. Choose how nearby notes are grouped.
  • Mobile navigation and dashboard. A reworked bottom navigation and dashboard layout for phones.
  • Session safety. Reusing an old refresh token now ends the session, logging out is confirmed, and cached attachments are cleaned up on sign-out.

Earlier#

  • Offline venue maps, cached notes, areas and tasks, and a queue for changes made without a connection. See Mobile use and offline.
  • Team chat with group channels, direct messages, read receipts and voice notes.
  • Incident command with acknowledgement, deadlines and escalation.
  • Integrations: monday.com boards in both directions, machinery GPS trackers, rain radar and single sign-on.
  • Exports of notes, areas and tasks with photos, and an activity log.
