Keyboard shortcuts
Every keyboard shortcut in the Field Desk workspace and the command palette.
Keyboard shortcuts belong to the Field Desk workspace. Press ? anywhere on the map to open the same list inside the app. On macOS use Cmd wherever this page says Ctrl.
When shortcuts apply#
Single-key shortcuts stand down in four situations, so they never fire while you are typing or working in a dialog:
- a text field, text area or drop-down has focus;
- any dialog or modal window is open (a note being written, a checklist window, a sign-in form);
- the command palette is open;
- a modifier key other than the one listed (Ctrl, Cmd, Alt) is held.
While the admin dashboard is open only D, W, C and [ keep working. Guests get a reduced set: the map tools (L, F, V, G, M, [) and N when the guest link allows creating notes.
General#

|---|---|
| Ctrl + K | Open the command palette: search and jump to anything. Pressing it again closes the palette. Works even while typing. |

| ? | Show the keyboard shortcut sheet. Also available from the palette when its search box is empty. |
| [ | Collapse or expand the desktop sidebar. The choice is remembered on that device. |
| Esc | Close the open menu, panel or dialog. With nothing open in the dashboard, it returns to the map. |
